Eagle Jeans

i have an absolute favorite pair of old american eagle jeans and they have rips in both of the knees. would it look stupid to cut them into capris, about three inches below the rips because i definitely want to keep the rips in them.
fraying was my main concern. i dont want them frayed so if i rolled them and sewed up the sides to stay in a permanent cuff would that look alright?
